Information about primedocs updates
ℹ️ Info Applies to: administrators
Relates to: primedocs Server, primedocs Desktop
Introduction
An update of primedocs involves the following two tasks:
- Task: updating or installing the server application
- Task: updating the clients, i.e. the “primedocs Desktop” application on your users' PCs
Here are some notes to keep in mind during a software update:
General notes
Please note that the server must be updated first, and only then are the clients rolled out.
Notes on the server update
- We carry out the server update on your application server. This usually takes place in a Teams meeting or in a phone call with a concurrent session via TeamViewer.
- We allow for a maximum of four hours for the update, provided no unforeseen events occur. In addition, we allow for effort for coordination in the ticket. Otherwise, the update itself is free of charge.
- Make sure that your application server meets the necessary system requirements: .
- We ask you to download the server installation files from the link you receive from us and then to place them, extracted, on the desktop of your application server before the update appointment.
Notes on the client update
- You carry out the update of the clients. We are of course happy to help you with any questions.
- Make sure that the user clients (the PCs on which primedocs Desktop will be used) meet the necessary system requirements: .
- The msi files for installing the Client are located in the zip file that you downloaded using the link we sent you.
- There are two msi files there: one with
x86and one withx64. Note that the file to be installed is the one whose name contains the same bit version as the Microsoft Office installation on the user clients. This means: if Office is installed as 86-bit at your organisation, primedocs Desktop must also be installed as 86-bit. Consequently, the fileprimedocs.Install_EN_4.0.X_x86.msimust be installed. - If you are switching from OneOffixx to primedocs, the following should be done before installing primedocs Desktop:
- the OneOffixx Client should be uninstalled on the user PCs,
- the "OneOffixx" folder should be deleted in the
%appdata%directory of each user (after the installation of primedocs, a new folder "primedocs" will appear there).
The procedure for a software update
- Create a ticket of the type “Request software update” via our HelpDesk. This allows us to assign your request to the right people more quickly.
- We check which release suits you best, but usually take the latest approved release.
- You receive a link from us to a ZIP file that you can download on the application server.
- In addition, we arrange the update appointment with you. When the appointment takes place depends on
- whether your application server is prepared,
- whether any packaging order for primedocs Desktop is ready, and
- when our technician is next available.
- At the update appointment, the update is carried out by us on your application server.
warning
From the time the server update is carried out until the client rollout is complete, we recommend not editing any templates or snippets.
- You roll out the new Client version of primedocs Desktop.
- Your users have the latest primedocs release.
