Chart Template
A chart template stores chart definitions (.crtx files) that define the visual style of charts in PowerPoint presentations. This ensures that users use charts that comply with the corporate design.
The following chart types are currently supported:
- Column charts
- Line charts
- Pie charts (incl. doughnuts)
- Bar charts
- Area charts
Creating charts
Chart templates are exported directly from a generated presentation:
- Generate a content template in PowerPoint (Forms fields do not need to be filled in, provided there are no mandatory fields).
- Remove all slides and, for each chart, insert a Title and Content slide with a chart/multi-purpose placeholder.
- Create or edit the chart according to the CI/CD specifications.
- Right-click the chart → «Save as Template...» — saves a
.crtxfile. Note the path and repeat this for all charts.
Creating preview images
A preview image is required for each chart. Ideally disable the chart title, legends and axes (via the «+» sign to the right of the chart). Then right-click the chart → «Save as Picture...» and store the image ideally in the same path as the charts.
Creating and linking a chart template
- Activate the administration view and select «New Template».
- Select «Chart Template» as the template type (category «Other»).
- In the template editor, import the
.crtxfile(s) via «Import template file» as well as the corresponding preview image. - Open the Master template and switch to the «Charts» group.
- Assign all the desired chart templates.
Defining the colour order
The chart template provides a «Colour order» field. Enter the index values of the desired colour sequence there. The question-mark icon opens a window showing the available index values and the colour values behind them. If you have several organizational units with different colour themes, the index values are listed per organizational unit.
Enter the desired index numbers into the colour-order field and repeat this for all charts.
The index colours and further details are defined in the organizational units → design colours within the <Chart>…</Chart> configuration.
